I tried the iscsi as well as an NFS mount but the performance on 1GB/s NIC's can only get me at best 100-120MB/s.
The repeatable PSOD's where I was using vmxnet3 on the esxi VM was caused by instability problems in the vmxnet driver embedded in esxi. At least that's what I have read in other posts.
I'm just trying to get a shared datastore in my esxi cluster lab, but on my SSD's. 
I want best vm spinup when testing View 5 with linked clones.
