Re: Very high and persistent disk usage after closing down VMPlayer.

A log file isn't required to tell you that yes, this is normal.  You've suspended the VM and it's writing the contents of the RAM to the hard drive.  I have a few doodads on my screen showing hard drive and memory usage and when I suspend, I can clearly see hard drive usage spike to 100% while the total system memory in use decreases at a steady rate by an amount equal to the amount of RAM assigned to the VM.  I share your frustration to some extent because when I check out for the night, I suspend the VM, then suspend the host (s3, STR).  I'm always careful to wait until this hard drive thrashing completes before suspending the host.  You might be able to reduce the time this takes if you can reduce the amount of memory assigned to the VM.

IMO, you provided enough information and asked the question clearly enough that I didn't feel it necessary to insult you and your question by calling it moot.  It's a valid question, and since it's typical behavior, I imagine alot of people wonder what's going on..people that might find this thread useful apart from the OP.  I mean if i wanted a log, I could just ask for a log, right?  Sheesh.
