Because you are able to ping between VMs on the host the virtual networking is working - the issue will either be with the physical NIC that is attached to the virtual switch or the physical switch the NIC connects to - can you post a screen shot of the network configuration of the host?
Is this only a single host or is part of cluster? If it is part of a cluster and are you able to migrate the VM to another host either using vMotion or cold migrate it?
Did anybody ever figure this out? I am having the same issues with the same error message. I don't have two management networks on the hosts. I have tried replication to another site and same site with the same error. I am using distributed switch on my protected site and standard vSwitch on the DR site. My VR server is on another subnet the my Hosts. But I can ping back and forth.
any ideas?
I just deployed the vCenter appliance and it won't boot. I used the OVF and VMDK file method as outlined in these 2 articles. I'm attaching a view of my datastore. The only corrective action I've taken so far was to delete the appliance and re-deploy it with the same result. I've tried both thick and thin provisioning. The VM shows 2 VMDKs
I'm not sure what my next steps should be. Please help.

I just switched over from a dell laptop to a macbook Pro running VMWare Fusion 6 which is running Windows 7.
I had shortcuts on my windows desktop that opened locations on a network. I would like to put these on my mac desktop and have windows 7 (via VMWare) open them. But if I just share the desktop it put links on my Mac desktop that can't be used by the Mac.
I've see the way to make shortcuts to open programs in VMWare from the mac, but I'd like to open a link in Windows Explore from a shortcut on my desktop.
Is this possible?
Thank you
Errors like this are often related to corrupted downloads. Did you already verify the checksum for the .ovf, .vmdk, ... files you use?

vCO 5.5 introduced a resume from failure feature which should address your needs.
Hi,
Under compute resources you will not see NFS data stores, only Clusters and , well, compute resources.
Have you tried creating a reservation for that compute resource?
what kind of endpoint are you using? vSphere?
sorry about the thick answer, maybe some more elaboration on your side would help me understand what is exactly wrong.
Hi,
Try going to Administration -> Monitoring -> Logs / Any other tab there
(sorry if path is not accurate, i'm not in front of an active system at the moment)
there should be some more indicative logging in that section. Try again and look for a new entry, or search for the exact time the last request failed.
what does it say?
Curses, we wont be upgrading to 5.5 anytime soon due to its handling of code updates to the cluster.
Thanks for the speedy reply though!
I can at least confirm Workstation 10 works with Ubuntu 13.10:
Download the eval version and try for yourself.
I do not understand why you'd stick with WS 8 (released the 14th of september 2011, when running ubuntu 13.10.
According to Wikipedia, WS 8 is no longer supported, so I wouldn't hold your breath for VMWare to write a patch for this.
Furthermore, this entire forum is dedicated to the WS 10 Beta release (which has since been released as a final). Questions about WS 8 should not go here (IMHO).
Thank you Andre. No I didn't. I'll make that my next step and report back.
Cheers
Paul
I have ESXi ENT Plus license for 1 CPU, we have one ESXi server with 5.1.1 installed with 2 CPU.
Can i apply 1 CPU license???? to 2 CPU ESXi server???
Did you already check whether there are any related errors/warnings in the Windows Event logs?
André
No, the license key you use requires at least the capacity to cover the sockets on the host.

A couple of weeks ago I upgraded some HP DL380G6's from ESXi 5.1 to ESXi 5.5. One of those contains a Solaris 10 VM with a small ZFS volume with about 120GB of data and there are regular backups of that scheduled using "zfs send". With ESXi 5.1 the "zfs send" would complete in about an hour. With ESXi 5.5, it has not completed.
Attempting to do a "zfs send" manually results in the command getting to a certain point and then stopping. The "zfs send" has halted at 8GB, 20GB, 40GB, 60GB on different runs. Each time it starts to run into trouble, messages such as these show up in vmkernel.log:

When looking at the system performance from ESXi, all looks reasonable up until the point where performance disappears. On Solaris, the system has more than 2GB of free RAM and is doing a steady IO rate until this happens and IO throughput drops to zero.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
If so, how did you resolve the situation?
I can't get passed this error "There is a storage issue with datastore path" when I try to replicate VMs from my protection site to replication site.
I have looked at the blogs and KB: 2040302 article.
But I don't have two management networks on my hosts.
I am running vCenter 5.1.0 build 1364037 and ESXi 5.1.0 build 1065491 with SRM 5.1.1 Build 1290726 on both side.
I am using virtual distributed switch on my protection site and virtual standard switch on my replication site. Also my VR server are on a different network them my host management.
any ideas?
Mi viene male a pensare quando aggiornerò il mio lab da 5.1, figuriamoci in un ambiente di produzione….
Grazie per le ottime info!
Luca.
